Wednesday’s Word: SHIFT - Your Choices Shape What Comes Next 🔃

Life presents us with choices, followed by more choices. Eventually, we have to make decisions—and those decisions can shift the direction of our lives.

Raising my girls as a single mother taught me that my choices reached far beyond me. I had to consider our home, my work, our time together, and the future I wanted to build for us. What worked in one season didn’t always work in the next. As my girls grew, I had to grow, too.

There were times when I had to pause and ask myself:

How will this decision affect my children? What will it require of me? Can I follow through?

Those questions still matter today.

As a mother, a business owner, and a woman who continues to grow, I constantly face decisions that could shift my direction. Entrepreneurship brings changes, responsibilities, and choices that I can’t always prepare for. Sometimes, I have to adjust while I’m still learning.

That is why prayer and meditation are so important to me. Before making a decision that could change my life, I need time with God. I need to quiet the noise, reflect on His Word, and be honest with myself about what I’m considering and why.

A Shift Deserves Thought

Sometimes, we are so ready for something different that we focus only on what we hope to gain. But every shift comes with responsibilities.

A change in your work can affect your income and your time. A change in your schedule can affect your family. A new commitment can affect the people who depend on you.

That doesn’t mean you should be afraid to move forward. It means you should understand what the move will require.

As a single mother, I couldn’t make every decision based solely on how I felt in the moment. I had to consider the life my girls and I were building together. Today, I still believe we should consider the people we do life with when making significant changes.

Their lives matter in the decision, too.

Pray Up. Build Up. Dress Up.

🙏🏽 Pray Up

Bring your decision to God. Ask for wisdom, examine your motives, and spend time listening. Give yourself room to think and pray before responding.

💪🏿 Build Up

Prepare for the shift. Gather the information you need, have the necessary conversations, and develop the habits that will help you follow through. Faith and preparation can work together.

👗 Dress Up

Show up with confidence and intention. Once you have prayerfully made your decision, take the next step. Let the way you carry yourself reflect the work you are doing within.

Scripture for the Shift

James 1:5 reminds us that we can ask God for wisdom when we need it.

I’m grateful that I don’t have to have every answer before I pray. I can come to God with my questions, my concerns, and the choices in front of me.

My Prayer

Father, thank You for guiding me through every season. Give me wisdom for the decisions I face. Help me recognize when to move, when to prepare, and when to be still. Keep me mindful of the people affected by my choices. Help me move with faith, patience, and purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Your Moment to Reflect

What needs to shift in your life?

Before you decide, consider what that change will require of you and how it will affect the people doing life with you.

You don’t have to figure everything out today. Begin with prayer and one thoughtful step.
